Laptop Hooked up in my car, but few questions

I have 95 C280.
I bought a cheapy 7" motorized monitor with touchscreen from ebay.
I got it connected with my laptop with Windows tablet Ed.
Mainly I'm going to use it for music and GPS.
I like it a lot. It's little hard to control while you're driving. So I'm looking to get the Windows Plus Pack which will enable me to control Windows Media Player with my voice.
Since I don't have a CD changer, I'll use AUX 2 for the computer sound. I got a AUX2(10-pin) to RCA adapter.

My laptop is just sitting in the back seat. I'll put it in the trunk.

Here's my question.

I don't want to run the power off the Cigarrette light adapter all the way from the front. How do I go about hooking my laptop up in the trunk to the battery and making it powered up only when ignition is on(just like radio).

............get a relay abnd get a power inverter. Have the power source to the inverter come from the relay. Then power your laptop from the inverter. You can leave inverter on and it will switch on and off with your ignition. Any decent car audio shop can build or instal a relay for you.

I just received this aux to rca converter.
http://www.midwestelectronics.com/pr...roducts_id/154

There is one problem that I didn't really expect.
It doesn't work!!!
I guess it doesn't trigger radio to recognize there's CD unit is attached.

Does anyone know how to make my radio to receive signal from this cord?
The plug fits perfectly. It has three wires and uses only (1,2,3) pins.
But when you look at the CD changer plug that was there before has 10pins all connected and few of them are just jumper wires from pin to pin.

Go look up my carputer thread in the Audio section here. I used my 95 C 280 as my guinea pig when I put my carputer together. The thread has pics and everything. You need to re-evaluate all the software you're running. You need to go to MP3car.com and check out the software that's free and will function a HELL of a lot better than WMP. I use Road Runner as my front end and Map Monkey/Destinator for GPS. You really should do a lot of reading if you want to do this all the right way. I will be more than happy to help you out.
