98' C280 waterpump replacement-How to?

I need to replace the water pump on a 98 C280 V6 due to the pulley wobbling. I have no repair manual and so any tips, especially detailed instructions, and the need of any specialized tools would be very appreciated. I don’t know if removing the radiator is necessary or not. I plan on buying a new belt and would like anyone’s recommendations on other parts I should replace while I’m in there (the original idler pulley has not yet been replaced under the recall, but I do plan on having that done very soon)

Thanks in advance,
MarkC

The only special tool you would need would be for the fan (if viscous/no electric). Take the bolts out, see which ones have sealant on them, and put the bolts back in the correct holes ( a few bolts, mult sizes). When you take off the pump, inspect the timing cover to ensure the water pump didn't eat into it (rare, but sometimes happens). Its a pretty easy job. Good luck.

Just so yo know, its not the idler pulley in the recall. It is the harmonic balancer. You probably knew that, just wanted to make sure.

Thanks f4iman78, I appreciate your reply.
What kind of tool will I need to remove the fan? Yes, your right, I did mean the harmonic balancer, still, thanks for making that clear.

So pretty much drain the coolant, and then remove the radiator, loosen the bolts to the fan pulley, then loosen/remove the belt, then replace water pump? Is it that simple?
