Poblems W/New Ride
I was so excitied to purchase me first Benz. 1997 C230 with about 160000 miles.
Excellent body, however when I took it to get checked out the following, things need to be done:
1. reseal rear differntial
2. serptine belt, belt tensioner, tensioner shock absorber
3. front shocks
4. spark plugs, ignition wires, fuel injection flush
5. transmission shifter assembly(WHAT IS THIS?), shifter cover
Total cost $3,000. Is this a good price and are these major things? Second I plan on lowering and adding larger tires should I go with the gas shocks now..? Can I buy this parts myself from somewhere?
Thanks for all your input

$3K actually sounds about right for all that work. I've had all of those done except the fuel system flush. I would assume that the transmission shifter assembly would be the "shifter bushings". Is your gear shift loose? Like, can you move it up and down when it's in "D"? In other words is there a lot of play in it? Cause if there is then that's what they're after with that transmission shifter assembly.
