Remote Car Starter. Is it possible?

I bought a cliford remote starter @ best buy and the other day I went to get it installed. The guy couldn't do it. He had problems becuase the key uses an infared signal. Has anyone installed a remote starter? I have a 99 c230 K.

I'm pretty sure its impossible with any model that uses the smart key.

unless you chop it in half and leave the laser portion in the ignition and the button portion on your key ring...
