"Check Engine" light's ON.

Hello dear friends. Please somebody help me in my trouble:

Suddenly light "Check Engine" switched ON and revolutions per minute of engine start changing from 5000 to 10000 and back . Could someone be so kind to help me with this situation and let me know what happened with my Mercedes W 202 (1994 year) .

things with and without wheels
When check engine light comes on that means you have a problem with the engine's computer control , go to Auto Zone and have the trouble code rea by them and they will tell you what codes you have then come back here and do the search according to your codes.

Btw I think you got your RPM's confused I don't think your engine can rev up to 10,000 rpms with out throwing parts at you that is if the rev limiter will even allow it to go that high.

I think you mean 500 to 1000. Did it feel like the car was about to stall?
