Auto Climate Control Problems - '99 C280
I have an 1999 C280 with 45K miles that is having problems with the climate control system. Yesterday the temperature was over 90 degrees and the fan for the air conditioning kept cutting out. It would stay off for about 3 minutes and then come back on for about 15 seconds and then cut out again. All the time the indicator on the dash showed that the fan was on full. If I go over to manual I still can't get the fan to work.
Any thoughts on what might be causing this would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Update:
After looking on another Benz forum I found out the problem was likely a blower motor regulator. I got an OEM unit from Auto Parts Warehouse, installed it in about half an hour and everything has been working great since.

Those damn things.... I've had to replace them on both the E430 and C43. Ridiculous that my Ford has no problems like this, but the "nice" cars do :/

Opening the climate control box
I have a difficulty taking downthe plastic cover of overhead light box (C230 1997) where climate control unit (sampler blower motor is) is inside. Can someone show me how to pry out the dark plastic box. Pictorial illustration will help me greatly. I just do not want to break it. Thanks

On one of the MB forums, there is a thread with good pictures. I didn't bookmark it though, so you will have to search on your own. Here is a decent discussion but it doesn't have much in the way of pictures:

what you are looking for is either 2 or 3 phillips head screws to remove the cover below the housing for the blower motor. After you remove that, you will expose the housing. There should be 5-7 T20 torx screws that will need to be removed to then remove that cover below the blower motor that will allow you to remove the screws for it and the regulator.
