$590 to replace 2 Oxygen Sensors??

So my check engine light came on, I pulled the code with an OBD reader and it says my oxygen sensors are bad (1994 C220). Take it down to the local independent mercedes shop ... long story but I find out after the job is done that I'm going to be charged $590, that includes parts and 2 hours labor. This to me sounds way out of whack. I looked up O2 sensors for my car, they run about $110 each, and I've replaced oxygen sensors on other cars before, it took me maybe 20 minutes. Does $590 for this job sound excessive to anybody else?

Thanks

You only have one oxygen sensor on your car and it screws into the top of the exhaust manifold. With the correct spanner it takes minutes to change , so yes I would say you have been robbed.

Is there a web link or something I can print out to prove I only needed 1 sensor? I'm going down there in a few hours, want to have something to show them ... I guess I could have them put the car up on a lift and show me too.

Exhaust manifolds , #83 is the oxygen sensor there are 2 in one of the diagrams but that is only for different connecting plugs ;http://www.detali.ru/cat/oem_mb2.asp...SGN=03,exhaust pipes;http://www.detali.ru/cat/oem_mb2.asp...SGR=180&SGN=01.
There are no after cat oxygen sensors on these cars ,there is only the pre cat sensor. As you say ask them to show you the location of both sensors.
Good luck,Geo.
