Oil Light at 3500 rpm?

Oil Light at 3500 rpm?
Have a 2000 c230k 73k miles on it - oil light is coming on above 3500 rpms (around 80-90 mph) - if I put her in neutral, it goes off when the rpms fall - similarly, when I slow to just under 70 mph, it goes off. Checked oil level, it's fine (not too high or too low)
Could it just be a short in the sensor? I assume it's in the pan?

I'd get that checked asap. Might be loosing oil pressure at that rpm range. I have a friend with an 04(?) passat that was showing an intermintent oil pressure light and it was due to sludge build up in the engine.(service intravals were too far apart) Car needs thousands worth of engine work. How often do you change the oil? Dont wish to panic you, but oil pressure lights should be checked out right away. Hopefully it is a glitch, but I would'nt wait for the car to tell ya.

just level
Spk w/MBZ - light just measure oil level. Oil pump is gear driven so it would either work or not work. Probably just the sensor.
