Paint wear on 'side skirts'(rocker panels)
Has anybody else noticed paint wear on bottom of their stock rocker panel (side skirts)? Mine are black, and the car is white. I'm noticing that the rocker panel paint is coming off. Seems to be a rubber based skirt(PVC?), painted over in black. Anybody else notice this? Anybody have a suggestion for touching it up?

my side skirts are black also, any w202 made before 97 (includes 97) are all balck. I think MB use black texture paint on these skrits! maybe your can try 3M products to touch it up!

Try using touch up paint (you can get it from the dealer)...if the area is pretty big, you might want to have a body shop repaint that area...make sure they use a flex additive in the paint, otherwise it will chip easier.
BTW, if you want to add 98-on side skirts to a 97 and older W202, it's pretty easy, and the cost is about 175-200 for a set.

The area extended the entire length. So it's going to need more than a paint pen.
Are these 98-on side skirts pre-painted? Sounds like an idea maybe.

Well, if you can find a set of side skirts that are painted the same color as your car, then you're in luck (too bad they never made the car in smoke silver after the facelift). You'll have to search around some junkyards though. I know Potomac Auto had a set..don't know what color they were though.

Well, I don't have anything but factory bottom of the line rocker panels. I don't see that they are removeable from the car really.
I DID have them repainted about two years ago and it's apparent that the paint job wasn't done well. Problem being, this was back in Florida and I'm out in Colorado now. I got them painted after I got road paint on them and it wouldn't come off.

SLK
do you have the contact information for the one who has side skirt for sale? I like to get a pair, the black definitely looks ugly and the car looks high with black underbody treatment.
Thanks!

Super: You can email Pat at benz69247@lycos.com. He works for Potomac Auto (http://www.pgauto.com). Tell him Jimmy (SLKBoy) from benzsport sent you.
I believe this just fits over the pre-98 side skirts.
