Catalytic Converter
well i have this rattleing under the body of my 98 c230...and ive heard of the catalytic converter just rattleing off...is this true?...do any of u guys out there have this problem and if u do what the hell do i do about it?...i wont be able to check this often so if u have any ideas feel free to email me at "Dougsmail33@yahoo.com"....i really appreciate it cause this noise is driving me nuts...thanks...D

Don't assume that it's the cats that are rattling , you have to get under the car and check the heatshields are not the cause of your problem. If you thump the cats with your hand you will hear the ceramic core rattle if it is breaking up.

How is this rattling sounds?
My 1996 c280 sounds, but i do not think it rattles, more like "tic..tic..tic..". The sound comes and goes though, and it comes from behind the radio/AC but under the transmission.
Any idea? suggestions?

the sounds of cats falling apart don't come from under ur hood, you'll hear it by the transmission... towards the center of your car. and its rare to see them split, i've seen a couple, thats about it. but yes CATS are prone to failure.
