Key problem (C 180 -1997)

Recently brought a C 180 (Eleg) Auto, 1997. It came with 2 keys. One key suddenly stopped working (does not lock/unlock doors). The light on key still flashes when pressed.

Would this require reprogaming the keys? If so, any advise on how it can be done for this model.

Thanks.

Hello Deps - we had a couple of issues with keys and the only people who can help are Mercedes themselves. We tried everywhere and got the same answer - Mercedes. Good luck!

Thanks, this also helped me. I wonder if its a battery issue?! My 98 230 wouldnt open and I have noticed the range drop off. I had to use the metal key for the first time.

Exclamation Key Problem!?

Mine is a 1998 C180 W202, It has some ages now . And the plastic part of the buttons of the remote key has crack and broken parts. I purchased a used Mercedes remote key on E-Bay , and the condition of that remote is much much better than mine. Since that we can not reprogram remote by ourself, is there anyway that we can take the remote module out and just slide in my old remote module for a new "housing" ? ? Please , anyone who has the answer please help me ! Cause the old remote buttons are falling out quickly!! Thanks !

Mind telling how you change the battery? How to open the case, there's no screw? Thanks.
