There were 2 engine types for the 1997 C280, the Inline 6 and the V6.

As for the Inline 6 with the sparkplugs and all that, they are just under a long black cover which you would have to remove which conceal them. Its easy to spot it, its on the engine block about left of centre. You will immediately see the ignition coils on removal. The screws securing the ignition coils to the engine block are small screws and you will have to be very careful when removing them.

As for the V6, it has a single large engine cover which conceals the ignition. Remove the engine cover and you will see the 6 ignition coils on top of the engine block. 3 on the left, 3 on the right.

Good luck

On top of your engine is a plate, remove the screws to remove the plate and the sparkplugs are under it.

Hi

Yes I have the Inline 6. The cover for the coils is left of center as you said. On the bottom right of the engine I removed the smaller cover and found the sparkplugs

Thanks!
