Replacing Bose System in 1998 C280

I am going to replace the Bose system in my 1998 C280. I wanted to know what size speakers will fit in the factory locations without major modifications. I'd also be curious to hear any insights others have from their installations.

I replaced the stereo in my 230 and if i remember correctly there were 5 1/4" speakers in the front and rear doors and 6x9's in the rear deck. a great thing to do for sound quality is to pull the 6x9's out of the rear deck entirely and put a sub in the trunk. since there are speakers in the rear doors the 6x9's are not necessary for highs, and a sub in the trunk will provide you with much better bass. once the 6x9's are out replave the grills and it looks stock but since the cut-outs for the 6x9's go through into the trunk you will get much better sounding and louder bass out of the sub in the trunk. as for install advise just go slow and be as careful as you can when taking off the door panels and whatnot. they are rather fragile.
