How are your brake pads? You should inspect them as my ABS light came on a long time ago when my brake pads were down to the bone...

PS: this is due to the sensors on the front calipers detecting worn-out pads.

Just wondering, how often is the average driver supposed to get the brake pads replaced. My abs light has been on for a while now too. I changed my pads maybe a year ago. Maybe a little more than a year.

ABS warning light will not come on as a result of brake pad wear.
Most common reason for this on early C-class cars is the OVP relay malfunctioning.

i have this problem too..but the abs light only comes on every now and then. there's no pattern to when it comes on. seems like it's just random. I already changed out the abs sensors and the pads are new. Where is this ovp relay thing you're talking about. maybe that's what i need to change. thanks for the info

See here; http://catalog.eautopartscatalog.com...Overload+Relay
This relay is fitted to protect the engine and abs ecus from voltage surges and when it goes faulty it can cause all sorts of malfunctions including difficult starting, poor idling, stalling and abs system shutdown. As the problems are usually intermittent and do not show up on diagnostics they are very hard to trace.
The relay is located in the ecu compartment at the passenger side rear of the engine bay and is a tall silver relay with one or two fuses on top under a clear plastic cover.First check the fuses and if they are ok try cleaning the contacts on the bottom plug as corrosion here has been known to cause the problems,if this does not help replace the relay.
