1999 C280 Antenna Amplifier
The AM reception is terrible, especially at night. Sadly, my wife is a devotee of AM talk, and is not interested in my spare Sirius unit. Anyway, is this an Antenna Amplifier problem? The FM reception is stellar, and AM reception is the only problem with the OEM unit. I don't think there is a loose antenna connection. No other problems at all with the car...great choice for the missus.
I don't know if it's an Alpine or Becker radio.
1) Where is the amplifier located?
2) Shop job or self-possible (I'm only slightly handy, with no Mercedes tools)?

If I am not mistaken, the antenna for the radio on your car (a 99) is in/on the back window and the antenna for the phone is located in the vicinity of the back bumper. I wonder if something has gone wrong with the connection to the AM portion of the antenna of the back window? I am guessing the connection at the back of the radio is good since you get excellent FM radio reception.
