REMOTE KEY REPLACEMENT -need advice/help

Hi,

I have a 1998 Mercedes C230 and I am looking to replace my key. The plastic broke on "lock" button. Is there anyway you guys can help me or give me any advice?

Thank you in advance,

Due to so many people finding out about this, the last time I checked they had almost doubled the price to $114 but that is still cheaper than the dealer.

They request to send them copy of DL and/or REgistration and Title. How safe is that?

Key.

OEM parts direct are MB, Jaguar... dealer. I've just order a new key (chrome on the side of the key) from them. The MB key need to have the key encode from the factory to start your car, they need the VIN (for the key) and the proof of ownership (registration or car's title & driver licence) to make sure that you own the car (Not someone get your VIN thru the windshield & order the key to steal you car). It's safe to FAX (or scan thru your scanner & send to them) as I did a few week ago. Although the key's price is $114, it's still cheaper than I get locally ($200.00 thru Fletcher Jones Motorcars in Newport Beach, CA).

OEM parts direct is owned by the Hammersley Motor Group in Roanoke Virginia. They own MB, Jag, Porche, Land Rover and Volvo. You can get the direct parts line from the MBUSA website:

http://www.mbusa.com/locator/jsp/dea...ZIP_CODE=24014

You will want to speak to Jamie Pickard in Parts.

I ordered my keys in January and had to fax them the same documents, it took 10 days for them to arrive.
