Rough idle, ABS+CE light, jerks hard ... ideas?

Hi guys.

U.S. based 1996 C280. 105K miles. Well maintained.

It was running fine until last night. Then all of a sudden:

- both ABS and CE lights came ON
- it started running rough
- when put into drive or reverse, the car leaps / jerks HARD

All of these symptoms happened at the same time. What could this indicate?

Note: It goes in for maintenance (or I do the small stuff) on a regular basis. Four months ago, my German mechanic said the wiring harness still looks good.

Any input is appreciated!

best thing to do in this case would be to check the fault codes its throwing and go from there.

Thanks. For what it's worth, someone on another list says it may be an "OVP problem" -- it may have a blown fuse or something. Hope so.

To have all those faults at once sounds like the ovp (overvoltage protection relay) has either blown the fuse of failed completely. I'd definately be having a look at the before anything else.

Postscript: problem turned out to be a rear differential ABS speed sensor. Replaced the part ... problem solved.
