Speaker Size in Front Door, 1996 c200 (NON bose) - 5.25", will it fit 6.5?

Speaker Size in Front Door, 1996 c200 (NON bose) - 5.25", will it fit 6.5?
Hey guys
just browsed about 15 threads on w202 & speakers. crazy cause some say 6.5" will fit, some say 6.5" will fit with some work, some say nah, its 5.25" only!
So i opened my panel up, its a 1996 c200 classic (NON bose), and yeah its about 13/14cm i measured which is roughly 5.25" so ya its 5.25. Now I'm wondering if anyones installed 6.5"'s in, replacing existing 5.25" ones? And if so, does this require a lot of work?
I"m thinking of installing Rainbow 265 SLC (6.5") which have a mounting depth of around 65mm if i remember correctly, a little over 2 inches i think.
so yeah i'm wondering, is there any point in buying 6.5" rainbow speakers, or should i just go the safe road and get 5.25" ones?
