please help!!!
my c230 was in the shop having the timing belt replaced, the mechanic called me this morning and told me that he was test driving the car after the repair and the camshaft broke. did he have to mess with this part at all to change the timing chain?

I will assume you mean timing chain. The chain will be accessed from the top of the cylinder head where the front of the camshafts will be. The mechanic would have removed the timing chain sprockets from the front of the camshafts or "rolled" in the new chain. Regardless, they were working directly with that system of parts. I think it is possible the chain tensioner was not reset correctly leaving the chain under ALOT of pressure. Without seeing the engine, I bet the camshaft broke at the end by the sprocket. I certainly could be wrong, but they don't break on their own. Especially after that repair. They broke your car.
