96 C220 Fuel Gauge Problems
Hi, I'm new to this site, looks great btw.
My boss has asked me to find some info as to why his fuel guage isn't working properly on is 96 MB C220 Petrol.
He says that when he fills up, it goes right too the top, as it should, but after a few miles it drops to the middle and then to the bottom after afew miles more.
Does anyone know what could be causing this?
The gauge Sender possibly? I beleive there may be 2 of them? Right and Left?
Is it a DIY job? How do you access the senders?
Any help greatly appreiciated

Yeah, similar case for me.... really difficult since you don't have an accurate reading of what's left in the tank.
I suspect the floater to be the culprit.... Then again, fact that it goes up and down, could be some *sending unit*.... sheesh!

Many of the problems with faulty fuel gauge senders on these cars is due to running on supermarket fuels which have no cleaning additives.
Fill up with premium fuel a couple of times and add an good quality fuel system cleaner at the same time, this should clean up your sender unit as well as cleaning the rest of the system.
