Hello! My 202 from 1997 Kompressor now as a problem: sometimes it start normally (takes a second or so); sometimes it takes about 5 or 6 seconds to work. Makes a sound like he as no gasoline in the tank, but it as! The major problem is the fact that only happens somtimes and the mecanic can't find it!

I have the same problem, I have a 99 Kompressor and everytime I start it (especially in the mornings) it sounds as if there isn't gas in the tank. I don't know about the 5 to 6 seconds thing.. but my key is to give it a little bit of gas and it goes back to normal. It isn't a problem, I think it's just normal. Or that's what I've been told.

Thats not normal... I don't touch the gas pedal when I start my car... no matter how long it has sat.

I don't even hold the key in the start position... I just turn it and release and the computer starts the car.

you might check the OVP relay , maybe replacing its fuse will sometimes help.
it is located under the hood/passenger side . near the engine firewall .

This is becomming a fairly common issue with the w202 Kompressors as they age. I have seen multiple threads about it but no definative solution. One person claims it was bad fuel injector nozzles but it is too soon to tell if that really helped. A few others have said changing the fuel pressure regulator helped but didn't come back with a longer-term report.

A friend of mine is having a similar issue with a 2000 C230 Kompressor, although it is slightly different and perhaps more baffeling. So far this only occurs on the first start of the day, any other time the car is flawless.

On the first start, engine will die one second or less after starting, but it does start and run before sputtering out. On the second try everything is perfect and then on for the rest of the day. He always lets the car start itself, just turning the key to start for an instant.

This started happening just before the car was due for its 100.000 mile service. The service was done at an MB dealer, everything was changed (spark plugs, fuel & air filter, oil, trans, differential, HVAC filter, coolant, etc.) But the problem is still present. He only uses premium gasoline, and there is no indication of what could be causing this.

My thoughts were the fuel pressure regulator, maybe letting the pressure bleed out overnight. I doubt it is the fuel pump since there is no noise and the car runs perfectly otherwise.

i'd attach a fuel pressure guage and make sure its right while its running and then leave it attached to see if it bleeds off while the car is off. if it does you've found your issue.

That happened to me before but my car isn't the same as yours. Mine is the older c220's, not the kompressor one. I change the fuel regulator and it's running good since then. It's not that much so you might want to change it see if that helps.
