2000 C230 Kompresser
Transmission Question "S" or "W"

I have a 2000 C230 Kompresser and was wondering what the difference is when "W" or "S" is selected?? I did a search on the board but did not find anything of use. What happens to the car, I currently drive in "S" but not knowing what "W" does is bothering me...

Thanks
Spud

S= summer (rev's higher when shifting)
W= winter or wet (starts of in second gear, keeps rev' low when shifting and down shifting to prevent any lose of traction

Manual says not to switch on the fly, put car in Park then switch

Well said mate

Oops! I've switched between S and W and vice versa before while driving!!! :O My car didn't come with manuals so I didn't know that lol... :s

W is good if you're on a steep slope and/or on a wet rainy day. Prevents your car from sliding downhill. I'm on S 95% of the time though
