Angry iPOD in newer model c class

i have the 99 C class and the tape area is closed off by the window screen and i cant have the tape adapter that connects to the ipod cause it makes a beeping sound every five seconds when the flap is open, and i cant close it with the cord either.. how do i use the tape deck with the cord sticking out the tape without that beeping sound!! any help?

If you don't have the CD changer in the trunk, there is an adapter that will provide an AUX IN thru the CD input.

Seriously, the only way to really solve this problem is change the HU. When I drove my former C-Class down from Chicago, when I first got it, I had my iPOD with me to entertain me on the way down here to SATX. I ran into the same issue and the only way I could even get it to work was to stop at a convenience store and pick up some tape and tape that little button that the screen pushes when it's closed to get it to stop doing that. I changed the HU as soon as I got home. Got get one that has MP3 CD capability, USB MP3 capability, or better yet BOTH. This eliminates the need for CD changer and then you also have a hardwire connection for your iPOD. The fiber optic CD changer Aux-in for the '98-'00 MB's is $200+, I believe, and at that point I would rather spend the money on a new HU.

I just did this. I don't know much about car stereo or swapping electronics. I do know that I bought a Blaupunkt London model from Crutchfield and if I knew then what I know now, it's a 5 minutes job. Crutchfield gives you everything you need (the tools to pull your existing unit out and an antenna adapter). You will read a lot about a VW wiring harness, but you don't need it. I wasted about 2 hours crimping a wiring harness and trying to troubleshoot it - finally, I just plugged the existing harnesses into the back of the Blaupunkt - done.

Note that you will lose the use of your CD changer.

I couldn't be happier.
