I did this per my mechanic and it helped, key still died a few weeks later and I have a new one on order. New batteries didnt seem to help.
I just got my new key from San Luis Obispo Mercedes.
Just as I had hoped, it plugged right in and started up!!
Go get a new key//
Brian
why get a new key?
If you have the original key that came with the car, try first replacing the batteries. If that does not help then the car most likely lost your key registration or the remote has a soft failure.
I would ask the dealer to reprogram the key for the car at perhaps a much lower cost. You got make sure they understand you are using the original key and not some cheap ebay set.
Because there are much longer threads and responses on this forum that give these same symptoms in detail, and they require a new key.
Reprogram an old key? It still needs to be sent to Texas or Germany for programming, if that is even possible.
Change the batteries? Of course you change the batteries first. That is a given.
Do we own a mercedes or a toyota? Support your local dealer, buy some products.
