Ola! I have a C200 kompressor 1997 and also had to replace the mirror. It is easy, simply pulling down with force. To replace the need to use is a key to compress the spring that this in the mirror!

ok i have another question is all the miror on the 97 c class are the same? i know there is c 230 then 280 and other ones but does all the car have the same rear view miror though

No! There 2 types of mirrors: one with lights and one simple.
I have a C200 from April (as lights on it) and a C180 from October (no lights).
The difference is that the C200 as "fleep key" and the C180 as a normal key.
Apart from that they are the same...
