Replacing Injectors

I am going to be replacing the fuel injectors in my 99 C280. Is there somewhere I can go to look up what I am going to be getting myself into. I do know that the fuel rail need to be unpressurized. But is it a simple job after that?? Thanks for all help and input

Injectors

Hello! 2 moths ago my mechanic took them out. Just take off the "gas ramp" and VOILA! Very easy to do! Don't forget that you have to realse all the pipes that are conected. Sorry but no pictures

injectors

I replaced them myself on my 97 C280 and my 99 Kompressor, you will need a special star tool that holds the rail on. After that you will have to wiggle the rail out by putting pressure evenly throughout the rail. A word of caution the O rings on old injectors sometimes will stay in the housing, be sure you have the O rings both from bottom and top of the old injector. use a small allen wrench if they get stuck in motor housing or the rail. When you put in the new injectors put a little oil around the o ring it will slide in better. Put the injectors in the rail FIRST, then center the rail over the motor housing and evenly put pressure on the housing you will feel it suck in. There you go and good luck...its pretty easy..

Did all 6 injectors today and was a very simple job. I did however notice that one of the injectors was missing the small plastic piece that goes below the bottom seal. I looked down the hole into the manifold but it wasn't there. Would this small item cause damage to the valve or cylinder or would it just disintergrate (sp) from the heat. Thanks For replies.

The special star tool is a #35 or#40 star socket to remove the four bolts holding the fuek rail to the motor.
