kompressor questions.....?

kompressor questions.....?
i am a newbie to this board.
my girlfriend has a 1999 kompressor. i have a few questions.
she needs an oil change. she has been running with synthetic oil from Jiffy lube.
--does she stick with synthetics?
--if so, does she go with Mobil 1 0w40?
--does mobil 1 carry the oil filter?
--how many qts. does the oil change take?
i do most work/maintenance on my truck and car, i feel i am competent enough to change the oil in her kompressor.
--any pitfalls or unforseen problems with a newbie to mercedes doing an oil change?
--should i just tell her to take it to a dealership to get the oil changed?
she has 100K on the car. the shocks are bad. i know i can replace them.
--where can i find a repair manuel for a 1999 Kompressor?

Haynes manual 3511 is about as close as you can find unless you order the CD from Mercedes.
Stay with synthetics for sure. You only have to change it every 10k, so it isn't that much of an investment. Plenty of tutorials online for changing MB oil and filter. Just search. www. autohausaz . com for oil filters
Search the archives at club202.com and you will find a tutorial with pictures on how to change the shocks.
