Cup Holders
'95 C280: Has anyone come up with a really slick cupholder solution to this car's lack of one? Mine just has the deep cubby in the center console. I'd hate to have to resort to the tacky generic plastic sort of thing one finds at Wal*Mart. Was hoping for, perhaps something either especially designed for this car or something that suits it especially well.

Go to your dealer and order the cupholder that was fitted on the C since 1996. Sorry that I don't have the part number. But it's one of the coolest cupholders out there...German-overengineering at its finest.

I got mine at Auto Stiegler for $38.00. It it a little rickety, but still better than any after-martket Pep Boys or Target item. I think its actually kinda cool the way it goes up and down. I also replaced the cassette holder with a "pigeon hole", using instructions found here, since I have had the cassette unit replaced with a nice Alpine in-dash CD. I'm not a fan of trunk-mounted CD changers. I would advise AGAINST Pacific Stereo in Woodland Hills. They mean well, but they really don't understand Mercedes-Benz automobiles. If I had it to do all over, I'd go to Traffic Jamz in Encino.

Surely you're joking. I just got a 1996 C280, which I love, but the cupholder is a wretched piece. It jams on the way down, and holds the cup in the most rickety position imaginable.

If this happens often, your mounting holes or cupholder may no longer seat fully. This could be because something is worn, or because something is UNDER the cupholder preventing it from fully seating (like coins, cigarette butts, chewing gum, etc.)
