will i be able to put the housing from a older model w202 on my 99 w202. i want to buy h4 headlights instead of my h7 in my headlights now. they dont make any good bulbs for my car thats why i want the older housing.

On pre-98 models the headlight was mounted using three screws opposed to four as on your model. On -'98 their is a bolt behind the indicator, one on the other side of the light near the radiator and one on the bonnet slam pannel. On the '98+ two of the bolts are located behind the indicator (one one the inner wing strip and one on the fender - plastic dog leg), the other two are again near the radiator and on the bonnet slam pannel.

However I think it would be easyier to retro-fit the earlier lamps in to the later cars rather than the other way round.

My 94 C280 uses 9003 bulbs...they sorta look like H4's but they're not really...I'm actually switching to e-code H7 headlights cause there are more lighting options for H7's (HID kits are cheaper). The headlights on 97-on are different, and require different lower headlight trim pieces. You can probably retrofit, but you might have to change the trim piece.

The 9003's are the US version of the euro H4. I have Narva H4's in my 1994 C280

The lights fit regardless what year the car is BUT the lower headlight trims and matching rubbers are different for the pre 97 and after 96 lights.
