Radio or AMP problem.. anyone have this prob?

Radio or AMP problem.. anyone have this prob?
So wer're driving and I step on the brake, suddenly the radio starts squealing and screaching and it just got louder. I turned off the radio and turned it back on, had the same problem.
I removed the battery connections, to reset the radio. Same problem. It sounds like distortion from the amp, I heard our cars have amps but where is it? Anyone know?
If I can't get rid of the sound problem, I'm gonna replace the radio. I don't want too though.. Please help.
