Proper tire pressure for AMG wheels?
I have a 1998 C280 Sport with C43 AMG monoblock wheels. I have Kuhmo Ecta tires (with the stock C43 dimensions) on them, and am wondering what the proper tires pressure is for both fronts and rear? (Please keep in mind the fronts are different widths than the rear.) I know the max tire pressure is listed on the tire, but that is not necessarily the optimal amount. Longevity and even wear out of the tires is my goal, not a particularly stiff or sporty ride. Thank you for your input.

I cannot go by the suggested tire pressure amounts on the door, because those are for the stock wheels that came on C280 Sports, and I have larger, (C43) AMG monoblock wheels on my car.

"I see" said the blind man. Do you have the manual for your car? It should list the tire pressures for the C43, C230 and C280 in it. I know the manual for the 99 has information for all three models (no access to it right now or I would look it up for you).
Better yet, just call the 1 800 FOR MERCEDES number and talk to a tech support person. They should be able to tell you what the C43 numbers are.
The C43 numbers are going to be the closest information for you even though they may not be ideal (given weight differences). I think any differences would be minor though.

I do have the manual, but it does not specify in there what the tire pressure should be (for the C43), from what I could find.
How do any of you guys know how much to put in for your cars / vehicles?
I've suffered premmature tire damage in the past, so I'm cautious of this matter. Too, the often young and experienced guys at the tire shop don't seem to be "experts" in this area.
