maintenance cost per year !!
Hey, I've just used my C180 (YR96) for 6 mths and have paid quite a considerable sum for the repairs and maintenance, partly due to the ageing and partly due to my brother did not spend much attention when he owned the car before me. He used it for 1.5 years and before him the maintenance history of the car is unknown. I have so far spend more than US$1,000, mainly on the engine wiring, suspension, busts, exhaust, oil leaking etc. The fabric/leather on the roof also dropped down already, yet to fixed.
I do see many of you experiencing bugs and problem, and just wonder how much is the "norm" that we have to prepare to spend each year after the car is > 5yrs old.
Don't mind to share that info.

I've got a 95 C180 which my parents have driven up to about 7-8 months ago.
Haven't had any major problems, had the car serviced at recommended intervals and it funs fine. Only thing is the fuel sender doesn't function correctly so fuel gauge is all over the place but I just go by the odometer, because it will cost $160AUS for labour to replace fuel sender which is under warranty.
Seems I might be lucky, well so far anyway.

Time chain !! I have not changed mine yet, it is now 94,000miles , at which point of time we got to change it ?
If I look back on the items that I've replaced, they are more belong to the ageing/usage, so for those who have not changed them do watch out.
I guess (and hope very much) after all these "one time change" , I do not have to spend more than US$500 a year for normal services and minor hiccups.
