Don't knock them until you have tried them. When you don't want to put your muddy mountain bike in the car, carry a pair skis/snowboard/kayak, need to haul that big flat screen home from the electronics store, etc., the roof rack is very nice to have as an option. Five minutes of installation and your are ready to go for up to 220 lbs. Another 3 minutes of effort and they are off the car.
anyone have a steel toe boot to kick him in the nuts?
roof racks are for excursions and other rusty suvs and cars with a speedometer that goes up to 100
Haha, our 202 is the only 4 door between my wife and I, and we use it for just about lugging everything exactly as 'xvvvz' has mentioned... when we purchased our first 40' flat screen (had to remove box), when we purchased our first 27' tube (many many years ago and lots of maneuvering to get it in and out), also countless trips back and forth when we moved to our first place together, since we didn't load everything in the rent-a-truck the first time. We both bike leisurely and snowboard when in season, so it'd be real handy rather than me taking off both front and rear wheels just to get it in the trunk and having to reattach the chain afterward.
I personally only owned compact 2-doors since we met and luckily with fold down rear bench which the 202 doesn't have, I was able to do all the above including lugging a 27' with box still in tact. But that 2-door hatchback is now gone and I'm now down to a 2-seater convertable.
With the box it was too wide, so we took the lcd out from box and placed it in back seats. teared down the box so we can fit it in front of the lcd to prevent it from collapsing while braking. We've been watching from it for a good year with no probs.
