C280 Differential Carrier Question
Long time no post...
I am looking at a 95 C280 with about 125k thats for sale. Per seller, he bought the car a few months ago from the PO who thought the transmission went out because the drive would not engage.
Present owner said it turned out not to be the tranny but a bad differential carrier which he already replaced (with a used one). He thought maybe that the differential carrier went out b/c it lost oil over time. I have not seen the car yet and plan to check it out. He wants $4500. He probably got it for a lot less since he bought it with a "bad" tranny.... but thats neither here nor there.
Does this story make sense? Would you be concerned in buying this car? Any other things to look out for?
