new car

hello im going to pick up a 97 C280 sport tomorrow as my first mercedes.

i am getting it for a very low price but it has 200k on it.

how many miles is too many miles on a merc? i have always owned japanese import and know that they can take a beating on mialage. but im not so sure on the benz motor.

just looking for some helpful info.

by the way. the guy lives in a very rich neighborhood so im guessing it was very well taken care of.

That is certainly high mileage but nothing to be necessarily fearful of, as long as you can do some work on it yourself. Neighborhoods have nothing to do with maintenance, so the service history in a car of that age & mileage is a must. It might be a low price but if you don't know what has been done, or atleast can't have a good inspection done of it beforehand, you might want to shop around. There are lots of cheap 202's around in general, and even cheap c36's & 43's.

The m104 engine is overall pretty reliable, I've had two MB's with it, and they haven't let me down.

thanks. i drove it today and it was spot on perfect. you would have no idea what the mialage was on it. my mechanic is a merc guy and is inspecting it on a lift tomorrow.

apparently the car was a one owner by an old rich couple who took very good care of the car. so the miles mighe just be legit driving miles.

idk ill look around just in case.
