Help need
Hi All
My brother is looking a t buying a 98 C230 Kompressor, The car it isn good condition but it has 152 000 km's on it, my question is how storng are these engines, I am test driving the car on Saturday and will like to know what to look out for , like clutch, power steering etc.. Any help will be really appreciated

By 1998 The w202 series was pretty much flawless by means of stupid stuff with electronics. Make sure that there are maintainence records!!! As reliable as these cars are, they still need to have the fluid changed at the right times. Look for oil in the black pan that goes underneath the engine. The head gasket had been revised so you shouldn't have any problems there but sometimes the timing chain gasket leaks. Mercedes are nearly perfect as far as mechanical problems go. There are stickers on every body panel with a long number. If they are factory body panels then the numbers should all match. If they don't I would look for signs of a major accident. Test the Climate Control system in this car to make sure everything works. Other than that you should be home free. Good Luck!!! Hope to see your brother on this forum in the future.
