C36 transplant

I'm actually looking for a C36 right now. It's extremely rare over here in Malaysia though. I've only ever seen 1 on the road. I'm looking to buy 1 but seeing as it's so hard to find, I thought about getting the cheapest C180 I can find with a pristine chassis, then buy a C36 half cut n then doing a complete C36 conversion on the C180. The half cuts r available at the yards here. I wouldn't mind a C43 either if I see the half cut around the car yards.

Is it a monumental task or easy swap? I've been googling for hours n cant seem to find any info on this.

it would be much better to stick the amg M104 in a 190E with a getrag 5-speed. If you were going to swap it in the 202 it would be about the same price to just buy a real C36

I am looking for a real C36. Problem is, they're extremely rare in Malaysia. Even if it's available the price will be astronomical. Let me just give you an idea of how absurd the tax structure is on cars in Malaysia. The latest W204 AMG C63 is only $55,000 in USA. Over here in Malaysia, the tax is so absurd that the W204 C230 is priced at about $90,000. When I bought my W203 C200K 1.5 years back, it cost me about $64,000 and that was with a massive discount as the Mercedes dealer wanted to clear off the last few units of W203 as everyone else wanted only the W204 in June 2007. Just imagine that! My C200K costs more than a C63 in the USA.

However, modding cars n doing conversions over here in Malaysia is really affordable. The half cuts of all kinds of exotics are cheap n readily available n labor is pretty cheap too. That's y I was thinking of doing a C36 conversion if I cant find a C36 for sale.

Malaysia has a thriving car yard industry. There r lotsa containers of good stuff coming in from Japan every month. Those into JDM cars n parts, Malaysia is like heaven. We also get lotsa continental car parts in car yards specialising in continental brands like Audi, VW, BMW, Mercedes.

I have found a C36 for sale but that weirdo changed all the front+rear bumpers, side skirts to C43. Changed all the front lights with crystal lens, smoked rear lights with LEDs. He also covered all the interior wood panels with fake vinyl carbon fiber stickers. &#^$%@! I just dont understand why he did that to a C36. I kinda suspect that car had a major smash up hence all the new exterior kit. Even if it really is an accident free car, I wont bother with it coz it's just so weird with all those mods on it. The search continues.....................

Seems like you guys have alot of parts available for Benz. You have any site that I can visit? I'm from Manila, Philippines and it won't be cheper for me to purchase parts there than shipping it from the U.S.
