So recently my hood has a problem staying shut. Last night I finally was able to do some investigating, after taking out the hood latch and poking around, it seems that hood release cable needs another 1/4 of an inch or so to properly move the locking metal piece over the metal piece holding the hood hook. Right now it barely moving over...which means i can pull up on the hood (or go over train tracks) and the hood will pop up. Is there any way to lengthen the cable...and how would it have lost the slack to begin with? Thanks for any help

Did you check to make sure it has not gotten bound up in some way at the pull handle under the dash? Just a thought. Cables don't shrink so hopefully you can figure this one out.
