Unhappy Debadging 280 emblem: Not working!

To get the dealer emblem off the right rear of the trunk I tried:

1) dental floss

2) 20 lb. test fishing line

Neither worked! They both snapped. It is a 1998.

Someone has to know how to get these things off of there! Please assist!

What I did was leave my car out in the hot sun for a few hours then used the dental floss. I was done in ~5 minutes

It has been in the hot sun for 5 years (in Texas). With respects, I don't see how that is going to help it come off. It was 66 degrees and sunny here today and it easily broke both dental floss and fishing line. Anyone else? Thanx.

That dealer emblem should come right off. Spray some Goo Gone on the back sticky part of it and let that sit for a while. Why do you want to take off the "C280"? So people think you have a C220?

Okay, guys, I will try Goo Gone and a hair dryer. Thanks.

Doug, I want to take off the "C280" and the dealer emblem because I feel it looks cleaner and classier without them on there.

I'll be in the same boat soon. I'm going to attempt to "re-badge" with the separate Carlsson letters. Anytime I deal with 3m tape I get nervous and worry about *** up something. I can just see my C280 with the cool "nosslraC" badge.

T-Roll,

You have to use the floss while under the hairdryer. I did it on several cars already (One has to hold the hairdryer while one flosses). Floss string will snap but you have to continue doing it.

Thanks for everyone's input. The Goo Gone worked like a charm. Once I let that sit for several minutes the fishing line pulled right through the space between the adhesive and the emblem.

Just be sure to wax back over where you got Goo Gone on the paint. It removes wax. (obviously) Glad to hear it worked.
