Unhappy C280 Wont start

Hello, I own a '99 C280. I have never had problem with the car and only since I drove from Michigan to Florida has this problem occured. Recently, during the middle of the day, I have not been able to start it. The engine cranks for like 10 seconds then stops. The weird thing is the problem doesnt happen all the time but it seems to me to only be doing it during the middle of the day. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

What is the proper forum then? and it did it at 10 am today, 5 pm two days ago, and at like 2pm the day before that. The engine is kinda warm when it happens (like 40-60 C) but after it didn't start today at 10, I went back at 12 and it started like a charm.

This is the w204 forum, which is the 2008-present C-Class. Your car is a w202, you can find it by going to the root directly of this forum.

Hello there Zerofayt,
I had the same problem.I replace the crank sensor, I put in a new fuel pump relay. And it fixed the problem for a bit. But still kept dieing and stopping. So I went and bought all the parts to replace both fuel pumps and found the wiring from one of the fuel pumps was setting on the right axle of the rear end. It was melted and was slowly falling apart. I spliced, soldered and tape, and that fixed it. Check that. You will find the wire next to the fuel filter on the right side of the rear axle. You will have to remove a skid plate, but its only 4 bolts.
Good luck

CPS is bad ....same thing happen to me BUT I was in a low ceiling garage in down town Boston when it decided to not start. Had to wait two Hrs and then start it and move to the street quickly before it died again. Replaced the CPS(crank position sensor) and have been driving since.
