My AC only turns on when I enable the rear window defroster button.

Also, when I enable the rear window defroster, the blower for the AC blows very weak, after I drive for about 2 minutes then it blows normally.

Are these issues related? Somebody said, I have to replace the Control Unit. Ouch,
that costs $800.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
