c220 diesel : water ingress, passenger footwell
I ask if any seasoned members have encountered similar problems & could help me out at all ?
Thanks in anticipation, before I have to start wearing me wellies !!!
Just to expand- I dont think this is anything to do with leaking bodywork or doors. I suspect it could be a blocked drain hose
from something!! under the bonnet. ie Air inlet box etc.

One of my friends has a 1969 benz diesel which he converted to bio-diesel. He's been working on cutting out rust and welding in new pieces. Anyway, he's been having the same problem. In his case, there are leaks in the firewall. So maybe check that out. See even if you can recreate the problem. Perhaps pour water on different parts on the outside of the car (around the passenger side of the hood) and see if that causes any leakage inside.
I dont think there is much rust on body/firewall. have had a cusory look/feel
behind wheel and all seems fine! Problem is that its still pouring down nearly every day and car is not under cover. When the sun comes out will poke around some more! Could be a long wait!!
I will first check drains for sun roof and air box to eliminate them!
Thanks again!
Many thanks for all your imput. The problem has now been soved
by my (paid) mechanic friend.
Water from the windscreen was filling the drain sump under the central wiper
axis (which had to be removed!). This was full of years of grunge and the outlets well and truly blocked, mainly by Sycamore seeds (those little helecopter things!).
This in turn had resulted in the heater unit under the dash being filled with
2 Litres of water! Fortunately the unit was cleaned out and the blower & heater started up as if nothing had happened.
The carpet is drying nicely now!
Once again thanks!
