SRS Battery problems

My battery has been dying the colder it gets this year. I have had to jump it twice. The battery is very old and I do not drive far but when I do I put a decent load on the alternator so im not surprised the battery has declined this winter.

Well last night it died I had to jump it to get home when I did so one of my tail light blew out. No big deal but maybe related.

This morning It was dead not a big deal I was expecting it to happen, I replaced it without much hassle. Then when I turned the car on with the new battery installed my SRS warning lamp stayed on and has done so all day.

Should I hook up a scan tool to find out where the problem is or did I blow a fuse while replacing the battery? Maybe the srs computer needs to be reset when the electrical connection is removed?

What do you guys think?

Thanks
-Brian

You may have to go to someone with a professional scanner tool. The SRS usually cannot be reset by a common OBD II tool. Try disconnecting the battery again for 30 seconds but I would not get your hopes up.

The dealer I called recommended that I turn the wheel from lock to lock to see if the clock spring would send a signal or not. Could A blow fuse trigger the srs light?

Heh... I think he is mixing up ESP with SRS. Turning the steering wheel lock to lock is a way of resetting the ESP function.
