passenger door light switch doesn't work

passenger door light switch doesn't work
guys,
i encountered a problem with the front passenger side door. before when the passenger opens the door all the doors including mine unlocks and the courtesy room light goes on too. but now, it just unlocks individually when you open from the inside but the courtesy light no longer comes on.
i tried pressing the switch on my side and found out that the room light won't go out instead.
i haven't tried opening the sidings to have a look see.
do you think i have a bad courtesy light switch. i don't see any busted light warning in my instrument cluster.
any comment/input would be very useful.
