1995 Cclass...

Ok so my battery was dead bc i hadnt driven it in a month or so... no problem i put on my Sears battery charger..,.try to start after a few minutes, I get the "click click click" which is the familiar sound the starter makes if theres not enough juice....

So I leave it to charge for a few hours, come back tonight and now the battery is charged, when I turn the key all the dash lights come on, windows work etc but I get absolutely NO cranking from the starter. Nothing at all, not even a click.

I think I remember seeing somewhere that Mercedes cars dont like having their battery charged while hooked up to the car and I should have disconnected it before charging...did I damage the car? Whats the likely failure?
