Buying a W202. Please help!!
Well im thinking about picking up a 99 c280. Im getting a good deal on it. Only thing that worried me is that it has about 143k miles. I was just wondering if there is anything i should look out for, or is it still a good car even though it has that many miles?
My main concerns are engine and tranny problems. Ill test drive it next week. But the owner said everything runs smooth.

Be careful of the transmission. If it doesn't shift smooth, chances are it never got a tranny flush, or it's on the verge of breaking. Ignore the cold start shifting though, that's going to be rough nevertheless.
Be sure to get it PPI'd by an MB indie or the dealership. Lots of things can go wrong, even though they "usually" wont.

So when i test drive it, what should i look out for. How do i know if the tranny is shifting smooth or not. Will i not feel the tranny shifting through the gears if its smooth?

buying 99 C280
Good luck. On my '99, I've had the MAF sensor replaced and a full set of spark plugs. And just this weekend the fuel pump has failed.
the usual culprits on our cars are sensors, plug wires, and the tranny flush that was mentioned.
Beyond that, if the car's been maintained, I wouldn't balk on the mileage alone.

Make sure you are getting service records with the car, if they cant prove any recent work make sure they lower the price considerably or you pass it up.
