fuel gauge

hi, i have a 2000 C230K. just filled it up this morning but for some reason the gauge is stuck near empty. i haven't experienced this before. any input would be appriciated.

that happend to me too many times... wen i take a sharp left turn the needle sometiems jumps down to empty but no light.. and then like 5 mins later it goes back up

i ahve no idea why

Your fuel level sensors have gone bad, a very common problem, especially on the C and CLK. Your dealer probably has the fuel sensors in stock, however, for your car I believe there is a bulletin that says in addition to the sensors, the instrument cluster must also be replaced. This has to be ordered and coded to your particular car, so your dealer will probably need to keep the car for a few days.

That happens to mine once in a while too! But the fixing part sounds expensive(esp. to the d(st)ealers... I can live w/ the 5 minute wait.

thanks for the input... thank god the car is still under warranty i've already scheduled an appointment to have it checked. i kept an eye on it to see if it would move after a few moments but it didn't happen, even gave it a tap or two to see if maybe it was just stuck, nothing happened. thanks again.
