Wiper Switch Acting Up

Hi all..
An odd problem happened today. I shut the car without turning the wipers off and upon returning to the car 8 hours later the wipers will not work in the normal fashion on any speed selection.

The intermittent push button works and the wipers work if the LEFT turn signal is on or I turn on the high beams.

Any idea whats going on ?

I appreciate your suggestions.

same happened on mine. i sow that pushing in the washer fluid when the turn signals werent working that it would fix the problem... but later on realised i have to switch it, bc it would eventially be a traffic hazzard or a cop would pull me over for not using a turn signal.. and then that adds up to more money then changing it.. lol

Wiper problem

Hi,
I had a wiper problem with my old C Class, a 1993 model with 238,000 miles on the clock. I contacted a breaker for parts, he had a column stalk in stock for my model and wanted £30, about $45/50 so i got it and tried it, fortunately for me it worked.
My problem was that the wiper only worked on fast speed, the turn signals worked but when i put it on (left or right) the wiper was on sweeping like a mad man, the washer would not work at all. This was quite frustrating !
I guessed it was those small brass connections on the stalk.
I think yours might be similar..........or a relay!
Cheapest option first i guess mate!

The Followup

Its fixed. It was the stalk. $140 for the part and $160 to install and that was not at the dealer.

I am not amused as the car is 6 years old with 30K miles.

Been through a Radiator, two Cat converters and one seat computer - that was at the dealer. Dealer also says motor mounts need replacing!

jeeez, the $140 is a bargain but $160 to fit? i did mine myself with half a dozen assorted tools and an hour's spare time, it was quite easy.

I would question the mileage too, why a new rad and 2 cat's ? was the rad holed or corroded? the cat should come with a guarantee.

The RAD had a leak and it leaked into the Transmission causing some issues. Caught it early enough as to not damage the transmission. Cats were under warranty and now god 10 yrs or 100K miles.
