Outsie Air Temp +136 degrees F
I have a 99 C230K. My outside air temp gauge was reading -36 degrees F so I got a new sensor (Febri 0005428418) and after installing it now constantly reads +136 degress F. Is there any reset that has to be do or did I get a bad unit?

Interesting as I dismantled the front bumber and with the sender disconnected it showed -38 degrees Celsius on the display. Apparently this is a default number. Connected the plug and bingo the right temperature came back. Could be a bad sensor or check connections again.

-38 degrees must be the open circuit reading as I also get it when no sensor is connected. I tried my ohm meter on the old sensor and it read open circuit. I then tried it on the new sensor and it read zero resistance which would account for the +136 degrees which might be the high reading. I try to exchange my new sensor for another one and see how it goes.

On my 99 C230 it is in the grill area of the bumper on the driver's side. The end looks like a small black rod sticking out of a hole. To get to mine I have to pop out a small oval plastic grill. I then can stick my hand in and pull out the sensor from behind. The wire is long enough so that I can pull it out the bumper and unplug the electrical connector. It snaps back into place the same way. Since yours is a 1995 if might be different, but should be in the same general area.
