Anti-theft Nut on wheels
Hello everyone. I have been to this website many times and have had my questions answered several times without having to sign up.
I have a 1996 c280. The wheels have anti-theft nuts that need a special tool to remove. I know this because the guys at Sam's club couldn't get my wheels off when I took the car to have new tires put on.
I don't want to damage the wheels, or the nuts(no pun there guys). Does anybody know how to get a replacement tool? Where do I get one? Is this something I can purchase off the net(I have googled and scroogled for this tool with no prevail, so if yes, please provide a link), or do I have to go through a dealership?
If there is a clean, safe way to remove them without the tool, I am all ears. As long as it doesn't require me to forge a make shift tool.
I hope someone can help. Cheers.

Did you look around everywhere in the car and trunk for a tool? They usually look like a little short tire bar. Look at the locking nut's head to see the pattern and watch for that on the end of any tools you find in your car. I doubt the locks are Mercedes issue, so it will be hard to track down a tool if you have lost it. You might go down to a shop in the 'hood and ask them if the know any "experts" who can help you out for a few bucks.

If they are MB originals, go check with the dealer. I think that there are only a limited number of patterns and the dealer workshop should have them all in the tool box so as to be able to work on a car should the owner forget to leave the anti-theft socket in the car.

Thanks for the replies.
I will be doing a very very detailed search of my car this morning to check. If nothing, then I will call the MB dealer to see if they have a solution.
This is kind of a silly issue, but one that can be a pain in the butt. If I have to I will see if my theft skills can out match the MB anti-theft engineering(ya right). I just don't want to screw something up and damage my pretty chrome wheels! lol.
Thanks again for the responses. Cheers.

Just thinking, did you buy the car with those special Anti-theft Nuts already installed with the car? If so, you should contact the previous owner of the car and he might tell you where the adaptor is located.

Take a thin walled socket 1/2 drive and pound it over the nut you are trying to remove then loosen it up and go to the next. You can punch the old nuts out through the 1/2 square area in the socket.
